Turning up the Heat or starting the Firestorm.
Turning on the Fire.
Knowing that we are in a sense in a holding pattern, what can you do to fill that time. Well the most obvious answer is to STOP being lukewarm. So how do we Stop being lukewarm? You examine your walk with the Lord. Please when you do this be honest with yourself. Examine Christ and then look at yourself. The differences will be painfully obvious.
The first thing you need to do of course, is to be a Christian. If you are not a Christian, or are not sure you are a Christian, then you are ice cold. You will not like what happens to you in the end. Besides this, you are missing out on a fantastic life you could be living right now. Don’t feel ashamed most if not the majority of those who claim to be Christians are missing out also. If you are not a Christian right now, please skip this part and go to the link on how to become a Spirit filled Fired Up Christian. That way you can start out on the right path.
Now to the rest of you, let me ask you this, are you like most Christians who go to church on Sunday morning and that is it? The rest of the week you deal with the daily issues that confront you. Other than in church, do you pray? How often? What percentage of your income do you give the Lord? How often do you talk to your friends about Christ and the Christian way of life? When was the last time you asked what can I be doing to Further God’s will?
If you are like how I used to be, then your answers will quickly show you why this is the time Laodicea. We as a body of believers are really falling down on the job. The Church is seen as judgmental, hate filled and bigoted. Christians are seen in a very negative light today and frankly we asked for it. For so long we have failed in our duties to the Lord and to each other. I will go into this in more detail in the section on how the Church has failed Christ.
Let’s start with Prayer then. I know that a lot of Christians tend to pray only when in Church and when things are going bad. The idea of talking to the Lord on a regular basis, simply to talk to Him sounds kind of silly to most people. Yet prayer is the first way to start the fire. Your life should include prayer on a regular basis. What is a regular basis? Well to start with at least once or twice a day. This should grow! We should be constantly talking to the Lord and trying to hear what the Lord says to us. As part of your prayer life, take a moment and simply whisper a praise chorus and try to listen. Give the Lord a chance to talk to you also. You will be surprised at the answer. I was.
Second, you need the bible in your life at least daily. Take a moment and ask yourself this question, how well do you know Christ and His Father? Be honest with yourself and then ask yourself how do you fix this. The answer is of course to read the bible. You should be reading the bible every day. There are devotionals that can help you do this. I have a daily devotion which will be on kindle by February 2021 and it is for free. If you want to have a copy in another format, please look at the files section.
The third key to lighting the fire is worship. You have to start worshiping the Lord daily. Worship goes with pray like eggs and bacon. When you are talking to the Lord tell Him how great he is, tell Him how much you appreciate all He does for you. If you know the lines to any Praise songs, sing or even chant them if you don’t like your singing voice. Put some music on and sing to the Lord. You can worship the Lord anywhere, just like you can pray anywhere. You can put Christian music on in your car, home or even listen to it on your phone. There are many places to get Christian music. Iheart radio and most of the other streaming services include Christian music. Find some music that moves you and Praise the Lord.
THis is your first three steps to lighting the fire. I will keep adding steps and things to do as the Lord prompts.
